To all Swink Family Descendants and collateral families:

I hope that you will be interested in the first volume ever written about the SWINKS in the following North Carolina counties: Burke, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln, McDowell, Mecklenburg and Rutherford.

My writings and research are contained in two volumes which have hardback covers. They will last you years if taken care of properly. I would suggest that you contact any family members whom you think would be interested in their ancestry. I'm sure I don't have addresses for all descendants of the Swinks including the many, many collateral lines.

Some of you may receive duplicate mailings of this notice. I have used the White Pages in getting some addresses and other addresses have been obtained through my own contacts. If you are a wife of a Swink and you are now divorced, please pass this letter on to any Swink Descendant you think would be interested. I thank you for your consideration in this since postage is getting very expensive these days.

Also, if you know of any Swink women who married into a collateral line, please make them aware of these books. When they order their own volumes, I will also give them a copy of the research I have done on their family line, which surname is now different than Swink. The program I am using to organize my data will not pick up all the collateral line research I have done which is numerous. I actually have over 5,000 names in my database.

The costs of the 2-volume book set is $140.00. This includes the shipping & handling charges and the box they will be in. This might sound like a huge sum to some of you, but I assure you it doesn't even come close to what I have spent in research the past six years as well as paying a resident researcher to help me pull documentation. Printing companies are expensive and having a book hardbound is another great expense. Hopefully, when you receive your copy, you will say, "it's money well spent." I have done your research for you and it has taken great dedication on my part to be able to complete this work. The above price is based on 100 books of each volume being ordered.

My books will be printed by Gateway Printing in Baltimore, Maryland. By using a company this far away, I am having to pay shipping charges on all books ordered and sent to me for mailing out to you. This takes away from their overhead expense of shipping and handling directly from their company. I will do this extra work. A printing company in Columbia, SC gave me the reproduction cost of $240.00 for both books which I found outrageous! I am having to give you a deadline on placing your orders. It is JUNE 30, 2007. This gives you 6-weeks to get your order to me. You can send a check or money order. These will be deposited by me and the proceeds sent to Gateway Printing by July 5th. They, in turn, will take up to 10-weeks to send me the books. I need another week to get these to you. Getting a hardback book published takes a longer length of time than a paperback. The binding is a long process.

I believe you will be thoroughly pleased with these two books which have taken me a long time to put together. I have worked going into the 7th year literally day and night to accomplish such a work. I am pleased with my results. The one regret I have is that they could not have been in one volume. Due to the limitations of Family Tree Maker, the first volume will not format over 1,000 pages and will not hold all the pictures I wanted to insert into the books.

I have faithfully kept my work to what documentation can prove. I do sometime inject what I believe, but I state it as such in the notes section.

I'm sure you will find errors in the books because mistakes do occur. There are often errors in primary source records. I have attempted to back up information with as much documentation as can be found in the various counties I have researched. There may be omissions in the book of some Swinks and their descendants, and if so, I would like to hear from you and learn who they are and how they connect.

I have paid a company $300.00 to design both the front and back covers of these two books. They look really good and make the books look even more professional.

Make sure you don't procrastinate in getting your order and check in. If you do, you may be left out of ever obtaining a copy since it is so expensive to do small quantities of books. Also I have to give approval to the printer to print more books. Considering I'm 64 years old, I may not be around to give this approval.

Please fill out the order sheet, printing your name and address. As soon as I receive the books, I will start mailing them out to you. Plan on receiving them about 3 months after they go to press on July 1, 2007. Hopefully they will be in your hands by the end of September if not before.

Take care my family and friends. Respond a.s.a.p.
