Magdeleine Renard's father was Etienne Renard and mother was Magdeleine Didelon.

Valentin Stragand and Anna Maria Masson were married June 5, 1851 at Fischbach/Saar. Valentin's place of death was Pittsburgh, PA. He appears to have been the only one in this family to have migrated to the USA (date unknown at this time). Georg Johann Stragand's son, Peter Stragand also died in Pittsburg.

From personal correspondence between George Lawrence Stragand of Elizabeth, PA dated December 2, 1987 and Dr. George J. Stragand of Richmond, IN:
According to the letter, Peter served in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71 in the German Red Cross, being too short to serve in the Guard. Peter owned a farm between Boston and Greenock, PA, in Allegheny County, and worked as a coal miner and drummy along the Youghiogheny River. Peter is described as being short, powerful, with a big, old-fashioned moustache. When his wife Christina died in 1900, Peter remarried. Peter supposedly had a falling out of sorts with his son George Matthew over what the younger was to call his father's "new wife."

The Pennsylvania death certificate for Peter Stragand has the following information: Peter Stragand: date of death, June 13, 1917 10:30 a.m.; date of birth, July 25, 1847, age 68 years, 10 months, 18 days; occupation, retired Coal Miner; birth place, Germany; name of father, George; birth place of father, Germany; maiden name of mother, unknown; birth place of mother, Germany. The informant was Mrs. Catherine Seidling of 113 "Bartlen" (?) Ave., no town listed.
The cause of death was shown as "internal injuries due to being struck by train on B & O RR. (prob. accidental).
Place of burial or removal: Alpsville Cemetery
Date of burial: June 16, 1917
Undertaker: B. Volk Jr. (of McKeesport)

The following news item was found in the June ??, 1917 edition of the McKeesport Daily News (PA):
Funeral services for Peter Stragand of Coulter, whose body is now at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Catherine Seidling, of 713 Butler Street, will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from St. Patrick's R.C.Church of Alpsville. Interment will be at Alpsville Cemetery.
