Henry Scarborough and
wife Frances Stuckey are buried in what became a family cemetery which
was behind his house that faced the Manville - St. Charles Road. The plot
holds just over 40 graves and other names (Bateman for one) can
be found. Several of Henry & Frances' children and at least one grandchild
are buried there also. Not yet located, but apparently in close proximity is
the grave of
Major Addison Scarborough
who died on this same farm and was buried near his house which
faced the Manville - Wisacky Road.
The cemetery is located in the middle of a large field and can barely be seen from the road. It is about two-tenths of a mile from the road. A chain-link fence surrounds it.
It is not known at this time who owns or farms the property and whether
or not it is accessible year around. |
This site is north of Shaw Air Force Base and northwest of Sumter, SC.
Family members buried here are:
Mary P. Burgess and Paul W. Burgess, and
Robert Dalton Ross and Katie Boykin Ross.
Photos of markers/tombstones are shown at Horeb
