On July 17, 1972, Barbara and Earnest Scarborough visited this cemetery and copied the following information from some of the gravestones. Their comment: "In hind sight, we wished we had copied all the stones. But we were young and in a hurry then."
NOTES: Two more were added to the above list November 29, 2002: 58. Mary Ada Josey Smith, born May 2, 1877; died April 25, 1908 59. Robert Furman Smith, born August 29, 1861; died March 25, 1932 On the November 29, 2002 visit, blackboard chalk was used to highlight the wording on many of the headstones. The harmless chalk was rubbed across the letters to make the lettering stand out more for the photographs. |
